Understand the opportunity
The Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) for Clinical and Counseling Psychology, offered by the U.S. Army, is a targeted scholarship program for American Psychological Association (APA) accredited clinical or counseling psychology doctoral programs. If you are a U.S. citizen enrolled in an eligible APA-accredited clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program, one- or two-year scholarship options may be available.
The scholarship provides full tuition coverage, a monthly stipend of more than $3,110, and reimbursement for certain academic fees.
During the stated annual training period, you receive Active Duty pay at the grade specified by the current program terms. The training introduces you to the military environment and responsibilities associated with the program. If selected, you are appointed and commissioned at the grade specified by the current program terms while completing your doctoral education and required military training.
After completing the program, you fulfill the Active Duty Obligation stated in the scholarship terms: one half-year of service for each half-year of scholarship, with a minimum commitment of two years.
